I was just curious who, on this forum, was in the military? I was in the Marines from 1983-1987. I worked on helicopter, and "home" for me was Camp Pendleton. I was stationed in Japan for three weeks, and Okinawa for seven months. Just did my four years and got out as a Corporal.

Proud to have served in the USCG, as a LT, CG-OEM and a little time aboard the USCGC William Tate. Semper Parates. Also served in Law Enforcement, retiring after 28 years of service.

U.S. Army: 1975-1997, LTC Retired as of 1 Nov 1997. Desert Storm as a REMF in Riyadh @ 3rd Army HQs. Logistics (primarily Transportation). Last five (almost) years in the Pentagon: hated the processes but loved my particular job, frustrating as it was, and was able to make some good changes (until I retired). Got a contractor job doing much of the same, with the biggest challenge being what to wear and leaving after eight hours. Retired from that in 2011 and have enjoyed life since then.

USN 71-75. BT2.
*My niece was in until last year and she made CPO in 13 years. I showed her my rate patch last year and she couldn't identify it; neither could any of her immediate officemates. After assuring her that it wasn't made up, she showed it to a MCPO that she knew had served longer. He confirmed that it was a legit rate, but was dropped from the Navy since they no longer really have a need for that rating. So I guess I truly am useless.
