Which brand, load, and caliber do you use in your Bersa for Every Day Carry...!?

I own a Thunder 45 UC and when I carry it concealed for self protection I use the Hornady Critical Defense 185 grain FTX...in .45 ACP of course. :D

I use Winchester 95 gr. DPX and if I can get them Corbon DPX but they are had to find. Have you had any problems with the Hornady rounds Shooter13? any hang ups, FTE or FTL? They seem to be easier to get and I'm looking to stock up real fast now days.

Hey BT...

Not one problem with any Hornady product, in any caliber...that nose plug really helps the cartridge transition from the mag to the chamber smoothly.

I stake my life on their product everyday...how's that for a testimonial !?

There is a ton of ballistic tests for ammo out there. I personally carry Winchester PDX1 in my Bersa 380 plus. That is only because I cant find Corbon DPX in my area. I have used the Criticle Defence But Im not sold on its performance as my first choice. I keep it as second choice. Just know that Criticle defence is not made to penetrate walls in 380acp.
tnoutdoor9 has some great ballistic gel tests for 380 acp on youtube if your interested

Thanks for the advice Bear...but I'm not looking to preforate walls...and carry .45ACP not .380ACP.

Self Defense is usually a very close encounter and if anything, I will have to penetrate clothing,

in which case, Critical Defense works the best in my testing using old clothes and home made ballistic gelatin.

In my urban area...a errant shot that goes through a wall may injure an innocent.

Not a chance I'm willing to take.

Hornandy Critical Duty is the answer for barriers... it passes the FBI barrier tests decisively.

Its large mechanical jacket-to-core InterLock band works to

keep the bullet and core from separating for maximum weight retention

and proven terminal performance through all FBI test barriers...windshields, walls, etc.

The .380 has CorBod DPX, preferably. I will resort to Winchester PDX-1 when I can't find the CorBon. The 9 has Speer Gold Dots.

I use DPX in all my carry guns 380 or 45acp . If you can't find local order direct from Corbon or Buffalo Bore Their now loading the same bullet. I have shot thru all kinds of barriers from 1/4inch Lexan to car door and DPX still opened . Unaffected by clothing also.

Ok. This is my first post on this forum. I inherited a Bersa .380 Thunder from my dad. I love it. He used to carry it allot. I've been learning to reload starting with this round. My question on this thread is, Why commercial are PD rounds so much more expensive than standard high quality rounds?
