I am confused on this model because of the contradicting info in the manual and the specs. The specs say the action is DA. I would have expected DAO, but it says DA. The manual says you can cock the hammer, and every successful shot will cock it, ready for another single action shot. So why does it say DA in the spec sheet?

"BERSA THUNDER Concealed Carry Details

The ultimate compact .380 D.A. Pistol. This is the perfect .380 D.A. you want for personal protection. It's slim, trim and always ready for immediate action. "

I've stayed away from this model because I knew I wanted a D/S action. Now I'm not so sure I may have missed out on some good deals. Thoughts?

Put a loaded magazine into the pistol. Rack the slide to chamber a round. The hammer is now fully back and ready to fire with a very slight touch of the trigger (single-action). However, if you choose not to shoot off a round you can engage the decocker (safety lever) and the hammer will fall but no round will discharge. Now, take the safety off and you can fire the pistol in "Double-Action" mode. By pulling the trigger back now, the hammer also comes back (like a revolver) and when it travels backwards fully it will fire and eject that spent round and load another while the hammer remains now fully rearward and ready to fire in "Single-Action" with a very slight touch of the trigger. The Bersa CC is a Single/Double action semi-automatic pistol. Here's an excellent video to see her in action. Tip: Buy yourself some Snap Caps to safely practice with. Happy shooting!

P.S. Superb headsets Hickok is wearing. I own two pairs and they work flawlessly. They amplify voices so you can hear everything your range partner says but when weapons fire, the "boom" is cancelled out ... amazing performance for so little an investment! Try 'em .... you'll like them. Howard Leight R-01526 Electronic Earmuff. Take the time to view the first video review on Amazon. Happy hearing!

I'm with ya. I prefer a double action only for a pistol I'm going to carry. I believe their website could have been a little clearer. That said, the Thunder 380CC is a remarkable pistol. I certainly can't grump about it's performance. If you can live with a DA/SA carry piece, this certainly deserves a close look.
