Just installed two Pearce mag extensions on my 8 rd. CC mags. I can load 8 rds. in the mags with no problem but..... the mags will not seat in the pistol???? Popped the mags apart and put the Bersa spring plate in instead of the ones that came with the Pearse extensions, same thing. I can load 7 rds. in the mags with the extended plates on and they work fine but I'd rather just go with the Bersa plates on and be able to load up 8 rds. Has anyone else ran into this problem using the Pearce extended mag plates? If so are you stuck with loading only 7 rds or has someone smarter than me figured out how to modify the plates to work with 8 rds. in them???

I wonder if Pearce might recommend a solution. Have you tried to contact them?

I found this on condorsflight.com:

". . . will work with the BERSA THUNDER .380 Concealed Carry but will change it from an 8 round to a 7 round. Remove the plate that comes standard and replace. If you want to keep your Bersa Thunder CC an 8 shot, do not order this magazine bottom."

What I wound up doing was sanding the Pearce extension flat where it was supposed to slide over the magazine base. Took about 5 minutes with the Dremel tool. Then I rough sanded the factory Bersa base, cleaned both with some acetone and used J-B Quick weld ( it's black when it's cured where the regular set is gray) to glue the extensions onto the mag base. What the deal is according to Pearce is that the Bersa mag. base has a recessed floor plate and that's why you can get 8 rds in it but the Pearce extensions are kind of a generic fit for .380 mags and when you load them up with 8 rds there just isn't anyway to make them seat in the pistol. The one other thing I did to the Pearce extensions was to drill the hole out a bit larger than the hole in the Bersa plate. If you do this make sure you use the Bersa locking plate. Just don't get carried away with the J-B Weld, it doesn't take much to fasten the pieces and if you do get some in the base plate hole clean it out or else you'll wind up having to drill the hole out. I used some cotton tipped swabs dipped in the acetone to remove any of the J-B Weld that squeezed out between the pieces and they turned out great. Now I've got mags with an extension on them AND they hold 8 rds. I did do a drop test on the mags and the extensions aren't going anywhere. BTW if anyone's interested in putting the extensions on I got a set of two at Amazon for $11.87 shipped free, not bad considering a couple of places I looked wanted 10 to 15 bucks and damn near that much for shipping! Pays to look. Lost the paper work but I think they were G-380 for a Beretta mag but they also said they would fit the .380 Bersa mags, they just neglected to mention you were going to drop your mag capacity to 7 rounds on the 8 rd. Bersa CC mags! Bitched out Pearce pretty good because their add says "the extensions will NOT affect the magazine capacity" oh yea they do!!

The 7 rd. magazine dimensions should be the same, just a bit shorter than the 8 rd. CC mag. Adding the Pearce extensions will not change the mag capacity and by J-B Welding them to the Bersa mag plate instead of replacing the Bersa plate you're only adding about 1/8th in. to the overall length of the mag . The Pearce extensions should work on any of the .380 single stack magazines. Plus the Pearce extensions are the best quality extensions made, I've got them on all of my 9mm and .45 ACP baby Glock magazines. Scherer(sp?) extensions and magazines are crap and should be avoided plus I've seen some other mag extensions that are so tall they look like an eagle talon. Don't know why they they are so tall, all you need is a short extension. Looks like the tall ones would hinder not only concealing the pistol but ALSO make it harder to draw from a pocket.

If you'll get the Pearce .380 extensions and sand off the mounting lips until the base is flat you can J-B Quick Weld it directly to the Bersa floor plate. No reduction in mag capacity and if you don't get carried away with the J-B Weld it looks like factory job. :)
