Sorry guys if you go to palmetostatearmory.com on page 1 you will see the 40 cal. version, on page 3 you'll find the 9mm version sorry for the confusion.
The Taurus PT111 is a nice handgun, ergonomics are good, and it gets good reviews. It all falls apart for me with the trigger. Had a PT709. Dependable, accurate, but has the same trigger as the PT111. I traded the 709, thought hard about the 111. Just about made the deal. Thought about how well it felt in the hand. In the end I rejected it for a SCCY.

I will not fault the Taurus, the trigger has one of the best resets available. Many love it.Just had too much take up for me. If it was DAO, it would be in my waistband now.

I think you need to try the PT111 G2 the trigger works very well as you can see by the pic.. This was it 2nd time out I shot well over 100rds today not inc. defensive ammo just to make sure they would also cycle. I was very happy with the accuracy after I adjusted the sights.

I kinda like the newer trigger on the Mil-Pro Taurus guns. Like ya said, good trigger with alot of takeup. I had one of the early PT111s. It had a full DAO trigger. Itwas the first Millenium. Much the same as the Kel-Tec P11 I had at the time. Didn't like the long DA pull on either gun that much. The trigger was just fine for self defense, but not much for more precise shooting. Sold both long ago.

Later had a couple of the Mil-Pro PT145s. Those had the trigger with the reset that felt more like an SA trigger. Liked those alot except they both shot like a foot low at 10 feet. Really had to hold up to get on the mark.

I am not entirely giving up on the Taurus guns. I still have a PT-24/7 in .45 acp. It still shoots a bit low with the Iron sights, like 5" low at 10 ft. So, I put a laser on it and use it at night.

Have a really old PT-99AF in 9 mil, like the Beretta 92. It has adjustable sights. Got that one on zero and it has never failed. Have one of the tiny PT-732s. It is a DAO. Kinda hard to hit anything with it. Just a self defense gun at best.

And a couple of the Model 85 snub revolvers. Those shoot where ya airn them and never have failed.

I had thought about getting a PT-111 Mil-Pro or a PT-709, but had an LNIB Ruger LC9 come up at a decent price. I think I like it much better. I am not really loyal to any one brand either.

I think I have shot revolvers too long. I do not mind a long double action trigger. If I feel resistance I guess I naturally keep pulling. I expect a single action trigger to go bang as quickly as it moves.
The only reason I pointed out that the model is a PT111 G2 is it uses a differnt trigger system than the old PT111. The G2 has a very good trigger and a very fast trigger reset and 2nd strike capability, if the round didn't fire you can pull the trigger again for a second primer strike. I've only put about 200 rds. of FMJ and about 40 defensive rounds through the gun without any issues. I had two guy try the gun today and both made it a point to mention how much they like the trigger. For 239.99 its a great value.
The PT-145s were nice. Never had one fail to feed or fire. They both had the new Mil-Pro trigger. They were just kinda fat in .45 acp. Really too thick for me to carry anyway. They were only a bit shorter than the 24/7. IIRC, all three had the second strike capability. Liked that too. I have one of the S&W .40VE models. It has a good trigger reset, but it much harder to pull than the Mil-Pro guns and has no seccond strike capability. It "feels" much like the Glock and strips like it. Much like a G23 I got recently, but the trigger is not as good as the G23 in.40 cal and nowhere near any of the Mil-Pro guns.

Anyway, if a PT-111 Mil-Pro turns up used and cheap at a gunshow, I will get one. If the price is down at tetail, the ussed gun prices will fall too.
This is about the same price I found at Academy Sports in this area. It's about 40 bucks more.

You got an excellent deal on an excellent pistol. The best price I could find locally was $306..

I am not condemning the PT111. I think it is a "best in class" . I just personally don't like the trigger. When it came out it was on my short list. When I handled one and found out they had ditched the DAO trigger for the SA/DA trigger found on the PT709 Slim my balloon got deflated, that's all.
Funny you mention the trigger greg_r, when I was at the range 2 people asked if they could shoot the pistol. The first thing they mentioned afterwards was how much they liked the trigger. I have never owned a Taurus before so I have no idea if this trigger is the same as the one used in the PT 709 . I know for me it was easy to like.
