Welcome to the Bersa Firearms Forum !!
It would be nice if it could be deactivated. I'm not a huge fan, but I'm sure they add them to sell in restrictive markets or to cut down on lawsuits. Ruger does the same thing, Ruger's mag disconnects are pretty easy to take out though.
I don't understand the problem w/mag disconnect?
the problem or issue is .....that I'm not law enforcement so to me I don't need that mag safety , what if I needed that 1 round in the chamber in the middle of a mag change ? WHAT if for some reason mag got dropped in the middle of a fight and now I have nothing more than a light weight hammer ....I don't like them ,don't want it but absolutely love my BP9

I understand what you are saying but here is the other side to that. Most police officers serve their entire time and retire having never had to pull their firearm in a defensive action. The odds of our doing so are even greater. The bad part is this. Our encounter will most likely occur without any warning, up close and personal. So it does not matter if you have a revolver, semi or 5 rounds, 8 or sixteen; you will have at best three shots to neutralize the threat or give you time to get away. Gun battles don't do well in court. Justified or not, civil court awaits us if we are still standing.

Jk

I'm not disareeing with you . I'm an instructor and know these points but I don't like a mag safety & prefer them not to be on my carry guns . If it can be disengaged or removed . I love my BP that is it's only draw back IMO . S&W put them in their guns for an officer's own safety in a hand to hand struggle. I started this thread to find out if the mag safety can be removed not to argue weather or not it's needed
Please stay on topic !!

OP wants to know if the magazine safety can be removed and his firearm still function...thank you

Sorry...I had no idea it would offend anyone. This is off subject but....I have been an NRA certified instructor for over 30yrs, And at one time ,for 5yrs was a state certified handgun instructor. Guess my training got in the way.
