All of his knives come with kydex sheaths, you can loop a piece of paracord through the eyelets, the knife hangs upside down from your neck. It can be under a shirt or a hoodie or if open carrying a knife is legal in your area then you can wear it on the outside.

It also comes with an attachable loop to wear on your belt in a vertical or horizontal carry, strong side carry or cross draw carry. The awesome thing about dealing with a lot of these shops if you call you will be talking to the owner/builder and they can do about anything to customize a setup just for you.

Couple of things I’ve learned with the smaller knives, I like the texture on the handle and the jimping on the back of the spine, it makes the knife easier to grip and control. Another thing I’ve learned is you don’t see a particular handle material, style or color then ask, most time it’s available. If you want a different blade design then ask. Liners may add a couple of bucks but it’s a way to add a little pop of color without having a flashy handle or you can do a flash handle with a contrast of color. One thing I love about local builders like Eddie, he’s a great guy to deal with, he can build a good quality knife that your not a afraid to actually use or scratch.

Over the last few years I’ve found at least 8-10 knife builders just in my area, some build high $$$$ out of my range knives, some are speciality builders that are more civil war era style knives and some are more modern makers. It all boils down to taste, use and $$$

If you have any gun and knife shows in your area a lot of local knife builders will set up booths, it can give a chance to handle some, maybe get aquatinted with some in your area. It can be addicting but there is a definitely a difference between a $30 buck and a $175.00 custom knife in the feel and edge. Just to add to the thoughts and depending on the state you live in, a fixed blade may not be for you, but then there are folders that some of these custom builders make also.

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask and I will do what I can to help you.

    Hey Mules!

    That is beautiful!
What type of wood is that handle made of?
I have come to like that wide sweeping blade.
That blade style really sets the knife off as well.
Please, continue to share your passion as new comes in.
Or if you have older that has not yet been in the spot light.

    God bless!!

Michael the handle is called California buckeye Burl. It comes from a native buckeye tree in California. The Burl is like a knot or kind of like a wart on the tree.

I’ve got 3 or 4 others in the works right now from Brenton Goode of Quickhatch Knives, he unfortunately is having to scale back on his knives because this virus stuff. Some of his suppliers are experiencing shortages.

I’ve gotten aquatinted with Tim Ogg through Facebook and have been watching his work. Him and his friend are hand forging knives. These guys work regular jobs and forge knives in their off time and their skills are getting better with each knife. I’ve been lucky enough to pick up a few of their knives. Check them out. They are hoping to get to a point they can build knives full time. The knives I’ve received from them have been sharp and the fit is good and gets better with each knife. They fit my hand really well. For a little more than what a mass produced knife cost you can get a truly one of a kind blade and help out a couple of young builders. They will even do custom orders for about the same cost.

The handle on this is called firedog micarta it’s much more red and flashy than this picture shows.
