Bersa 45 hammer

I just bought a new bersa thunder 45. I noticed the hammer stays off the pin accept when you pull the trigger it then slams into the pin. Is this a safety of its own. I've just never seen this before. I like the Bersa pistols. Very versatile.

Welcome to the Bersa Firearms Forum mloyd !!
I believe it is, as my BT380 seems to be the same way. I also notice it has a "cocking" position just a hair back from fully released. I like to put the hammer there when I carry it safety off.
The "rebounding hammer" feature is suppose to keep the hammer from making contact with the firing pin IIRC. Suppose to be safer if gun is dropped on the hammer on s loaded round.

Thanks I have a 380 and love it but I don't think it sits like that in normal position, this is why I was asking I haven't had the chance to go to the range yet to learn more about how it operates and how it shoots. I have been to busy. Again thanks for all the info. I am liking this sight.
