Assuming a Bersa Thunder .380 or any similar pistol, how many rounds can you fire before you can expect a serious refurbishment /overhaul of the piece?

I have read on this forum about guys putting 2,000 rounds thru their Bersa. Given that our BT has an alloy frame it seems to me that there must be some practical limit, perhaps lower than an all steel frame gun. I'm a casual shooter myself and I can't imagine that much lead thru any firearm I've ever owned. So I ask myself, what are the practical limits?

I have no idea on the limit, but 2000 rounds isn't anything for most firearms. They don't truly get broken in and going until around 400-500 rounds.

Often times, a casual shooter will think of a given pistol as being 'old', because they've owned it for a number of years, but that gun mechanically may be fairly new with less than 1000 or even 500 rounds through it. Because of this they'll misidentify an issue as something that broke 'over time' instead of something weak that broke during the break in period.

Because of this, I'd think a range that rents them or even Bersa themselves would have better data than a user might.

No clue. But I have somewhere between 2,000 - 3,000 rounds through my Thunder 380cc. My safety lever broke in half which led me to find a couple other issues when replacing it.

First the end of the hammer pin (Item #39 in manual, where the drawbar/ disconnector is attached) was cracked off. This allowed the drawbar washer and keeper (item #65 and #66) from staying put.

Second, where the disconnector (Item #28) "assembled" with the trigger I had a crack in the trigger.

Lastly, my magazine followers are wearing out and do not always lock the slide back after the last round.
These are all easy fixes and hopefully that is the last of my problems for a long time with my Bersa.

Here is a link to the manuals...again I own the Bersa Thunder 380cc
