Eagle Imports is Back!

Eagle Imports, the principal importer of Bersa SA arms into the country from South America announces they should be back and getting close to normal this coming week.

As Bersa Forum brought you last week, Eagle Imports was taken offline October 29th through the impacts of Hurricane Sandy on the US East Coast. The company, based in Wanamassa, NJ was almost at ground zero of the impact of the mega Frankenstorm on her path to destruction and devastation. The huge storm thus far has been blamed for no less than 185 deaths. Sandy is estimated in early calculations to have caused damage of at least $20 billion (2012 USD). Preliminary estimates of losses that include business interruption surpass $50 billion (2012 USD), second behind only 2005's Hurricane Katrina that hit the Gulf Coast. To make matters worse, a heavy winter storm, (a Nor'easter) came on the six-inch heels of Sandy and smothered the region in a belt of snow and ice, hindering efforts to restore power.

    The Word Direct from Eagle
Through their facebook page, Eagle Imports put the following out Friday morning:

"Through Hurricane Sandy and now a snow storm, we are finally back. Please be patient as we have a tremendous amount to catch up on while working with limited resources. Next week, we should be back to normal or close to it and will do our best to have answers to all questions/inquires. Please bear with us until then. We would like to thank those of you who expressed concern and kind words to us. Many people in the area were left with absolutely nothing; the Red Cross is accepting donations for those in need: https://www.redcross.org/donate/index.jsp?donateStep=2&itemId=prod10002 We thank you for understanding."

    The Hurricane Sandy Recovery

According to Marketwatch on the same day that Eagle announced they would resume operations, "On Oct. 30, the day after Hurricane Sandy made landfall, 8.2 million customers were without power in the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, and the Ohio Valley. That number has now dwindled to below one million, but a separate snow storm that struck the region earlier this week has also slowed efforts to restore power." This can be interpreted as a million US citizens are still in the dark for going on a third week in very cold, miserable weather.

Here at Bersa Forum, our thoughts are with Eagle, welcome back and be safe.
