October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and across the country, there is an explosion of pink from coast to coast. Breast cancer is the fifth leading cause of death among women in the United States. Bersa SA and Eagle Imports are doing their part to help fight the epidemic.
The Bersa BCAK
Bersa is marketing what they bill as their "Breast Cancer Awareness Kit." Included in the kit is a pink "Bersa Fights Cancer" wristband, a set of limited edition pink wooden grips with heavy checkering and thumb rests, and a pink Bersa molded case with custom foam. A neat thing about this kit is that it thoughtfully includes one of the best .380 compact pistols on the market-- the Thunder.
About the Thunder .380
Introduced in the late 1990s, the 23-ounce Bersa Thunder is a compact little .380 blowback pistol that is a hit with the marketplace. With its all-metal construction, Walther-esque lines, Rowel type hammer, seven shot magazine with extended finger rest, and white-dot windage-adjustable sights, you get more features in the Thunder than you do in pistols costing twice the price. The double-action semi-auto has three distinct safety devices built into the gun. In the Breast Cancer kit, the Thunder comes with its standard rubber wrap around grips with finger grooves installed but you can easily change them out for the pink custom grips. Also included are a speedloader, manual, lock, and an extra magazine.
Cost and Availability
The MSRP for the entire kit is $390 and you can be certain that a portion of those proceeds go to help fund the ongoing fight against Breast Cancer and Breast Cancer awareness. If you shop around you can often find that 10-20% lower depending on the distributor. This is both a bargain for a fine firearm, and a worthwhile donation at the same time.
