New Jersey-based Eagle Imports, Inc., the primary importer for Bersa firearms into the United States from Argentina, is currently offline and shut down due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy.
The following is posted on Eagle Imports website, "Eagle Imports is currently closed due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy. If you are trying to call us, email us, or place an order, please be patient, as we will be back as soon as possible. We are currently unsure when power will be restored or when roads will be reopened. We will do our best to get back to you, or ship your order, as soon as we are able to return to the office. Thank you for your understanding and patience during this difficult time."
Eagle Imports is located in Wanamassa, NJ and imports not only Bersa handguns, but also those by Comanche, American Classic 1911, and others. Wanamassa is located within Ocean Township, in Monmouth County, New Jersey along the state's Atlantic coast. Sandy, with winds of over 90mph, came ashore near Atlantic City only 70-miles away. Sandy was the largest Atlantic hurricane on record, with winds spanning 1,100 miles and is already blamed for over 100 deaths in the United States alone. According to posts on their facebook page they shut down on October 29th as the storm approached.
Those who have warranty issues or have sent in their firearm for warranty repair should not worry about any damage to their firearm as all of the warranty work for Eagle/Bersa in the US is done at centers in Louisiana, Colorado, Minnesota and Texas.
