Well, I've been set on buying ,or building a AR 10 in .308 for a few years now

I been doing a bunch of research on the 6.5 Creedmore, and all I have read , is that it leaves the .308 in the dust.

I want to really try one, but I don't know anyone with one.

So I think I will be looking to buy an AR 10 in 6.5 Creedmore.

Jim:

I do not know how it compares ballistics wise, but they have just come out with the 6 Creedmoor I read the other day.

Might want to look into that as well.

God bless and happy blasting!!

It is not the best, the most powerful or most popular, but for me it is the 30-30. I think it is more the Winchester lever action 30-30 rifle its self that makes it my choice.

Wow, it's a good thread and brings back some memories. I grew up hunting whitetail in Alabama and we had a few favorites.

My first rifle (9 years old) was a lever action Marlin 30-30 and as Mike_50 elaborated, the lever actions are just beautiful guns and fun to shoot.

The 30-06 is an exceptional caliber and if life and limb were involved, it would be my choice. Why anyone in the south would need anything greater for whitetail is beyond me.

My favorite however is the .308. I began hunting with a Browning .308 (Belgium made) rifle in the late 1970's and that remains my favorite gun. Mostly for sentimental reasons but also because it has a fat trigger that allowed a precise and smooth break. That gun is a dream to shoot and it will always be mine!
